Life Cycle Management 3M Floor Pads are designed to be washable and reusable, lasting longer and outperforming other brands of floor pads to help postpone landfill disposal. Energy saving and enhanced air quality 3M Floor Pads remove black marks up to six times faster, which can lead to less energy usage from burnishing equipment and the added social benefit of reduced labor. 3M ™ Eraser Burnish Pad 3600 generates more than 50 percent less dust during burnishing. Producing less particulate matter can be beneficial to indoor air quality. Fewer chemicals used The Scotch-Brite ™ Diamond Floor Pad Plus System allows the maintenance and polishing of stone, marble and terrazzo flooring without the use of floor finishes and strippers, helping to eliminate the use of floor finish and floor stripping chemicals in a stone floor maintenance program. For supporting technical data, please refer to 3M ™ Floor Pads Technical Bulletin (78-8134-0152-4). Environmental Leadership and Safety 3M sustainability includes developing new products through a Life Cycle Management (LCM) process. LCM includes a comprehensive review of a product’s potential health, safety, environmental and regulatory impact throughout its lifetime. 3M professional technical experts—specialists in toxicology, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, product stewardship and product safety—all participate in the LCM process. As a result, 3M stands behind its floor pads and other products for performance, safety, minimizing environmental impact and general customer satisfaction. 3M Packaging As part of an environmental stewardship in packaging, 3M ™ Floor Pad packaging consists of 75 to 100 percent recycled material and the packaging is 100 percent recyclable. Additionally, 3M packaging engineers have worked to keep the packaging material as light as possible—reducing overall product packaging. Operational Excellence 3M Floor Pad manufacturing facilities operate under a philosophy of operational excellence and continuous improvement. Since 2004, our floor pad manufacturing has made continuous strides to further reduce our environmental impact. Some of these improvements include: • More efficient manufacturing equipment resulting in 30% reduction in air emissions • Improved ability to use manufacturing by-products and recycle them into our process rather than dispose of in landfill • Product technology breakthroughs that have reduced volatile organic compound usage in the manufacturing process • Our US floor pad manufacturing site is an EPA Performance Track Facility* *http://www.epa.gov/performancetrack/index.htm Sustainable Building Maintenance As CaGBC (Canadian Green Building Council) member, 3M can help our customers reduce their environmentally footprint. Through our innovative technology, 3M floor maintenance systems can reduce or eliminate the use of chemicals, reduce landfill and improve indoor air quality. 3M Floor Pads can contribute credits toward LEED® Building Rating systems and reduce your facilities environmental footprint.
